    Default recomendations on a strop

Hello so. I have well torn up my strop trying to do the x pattern stropping and well I didn't do so well so I need a new one but I'm curious on opinions of what's a better strop. I've seen paddles. Wider strops. And even that theirs issard 4 way strop and I'm lost so anyone want to help out this dilemma a bit

Personally, I like the 3", it is wide enough that I don't need to do x strokes. I also find the English Bridal Strops to have nice feedback.

This is another thing. I keep seeing these disputes about leather versus linen. A lot of sites I go to have two sided leather and barely any linen except for spray or paste use which I honestly know nothing about as well so I'm curious is there really a benefit from one to another

Wow, you have a lot going on here. It sounds like you are having issues just stropping in the first place so like Krusty says above find a 3" wide strop for starters. A paddle strop may be best for you also until you get the motion of stropping and the pressure perfected.

I use felt and leather but you need to be careful with felt because it can develop lumps if it gets wet. I would suggest linen for you and don't worry about pastes until you have a better handle on stropping. You may want to have someone hone your razor again also, it sounds like the edge has been pretty compromised.

I am sure someone here can direct you toward a good strop or PM me and I can help you out.

    Best,
I shave because I want to, not because I have to!
