Thanked: 0taping razor spine
I now always tape the back of my razor with masking tape when honing or stropping , I tape past the blade onto the handle to create a straight knife that the handle doesn't flop around when turning over. Any one do this ? I heard this changes the bevel angle but I never noticed and it keeps the blade like new and doesn't wear the pin out

Thanked: 67Yes, when honing, but no, when stropping. If the pivot pin is too loose (meaning the razor flops around when trying to strop) then I'd tighten it up with a few taps of a hammer.

Mmm. Sounds like the pin is loose if it's flopping around. There should be no need to tape around the scales to stop them from moving.
