Hendrix Classics & Co.
Hi, I'm Pete Hendrix from Nashville, TN. I've been on SRP for a while and am finally launching Hendrix Classics & Co.
My focus is on awesome scales. Of course, scales need a razor, so I'm using new Dovo razor blades. I'm happy to do only scales for those that have a blade.
There are three primary focus areas: fit & finish; built to last so they can be passed down from generation to generation and really, really good customer service.
It would be great if you check out my website: https://hendrixclassics.com/
I hope you watch the video. Each product has information specific to that razor at the bottom of the page.
Here are things I would like you to know:
- I'm an artistic craftsman. Having someone get a product they love brings joy to me.
- In the same way that a round pen fits your hand better than a rectangular carpenter's pencil, these scales have been properly rounded by hand. I may have to make some flat ones to have a lower price point, though they will be a very noticeable step up from what the blade manufacturer provides.
- I use a wedge rather than a spacer and don't use glue. Using glue creates a stress point and my scales are meant to last generations.
- I use a G-10 liner if I have any concern at all about the scales lasting for generations.
- I have a stabilization kit on order. Once it arrives, wood, bone, horn and everything else other than resin scales and high oil wood will be properly stabilized.
- The interior of the scales are finished so water will run off in an attempt to protect the blade.
- Wood is finished with Tru-Oil, which I believe to be the best wood finish on the market. It has to be applied and rubbed in by hand with at least eight coats. The active ingredient, linseed oil, has been used by militaries for a very long time. I have actual civil war guns with the original finish, which is almost certainly linseed oil, that are in great shape.
- Pinning is done by hand and nicely rounded.
My good name really matters to me. If you get a product from me and something doesn't suit, I'll make it right.Last edited by Pete123; 06-13-2018 at 11:20 PM.

Those are some nice-looking scales. Will you be offering scale-only kits in addition to those with DOVO blades?
As a followup to that, do you plan on offering any other brand of blades in the future? One man's opinion...

Thanks for your questions. The high level answer is that I'm customer driven and will provide products that folks want.
Yes, I will offer scale only kits and have already been thinking about this. Any one can pm me to get one currently. Also, it would be great if those who think they have interest can reply to the thread with what they might want in a kit.
With this info I can put together kits that will suit most and put them on the website.
I do plan on offering other blades. The quality of the shave is critical, so I would envision Ralf Aust, Boker and Thiers Issard the main commercial producers. I'm understanding that Ralf Aust now has a slight edge on Dovo with quality, which is very interesting to me.
I'm definitely open to using custom makers blades.
