Thanked: 6Rate my shave, first shaving video from a noob. :D
Made this video of a shave I did tonight. Razor is a gong razor, nothing fancy. I bought it for about 8 bucks or so in market.
I started this straight razor thing a few month ago. And I just love it. I am at the moment learning how to use the left arm when shaving the left side, its darn hard but I am starting to learn now.
I make 3 laps in this video and its just about 9 minutes long I think. Got a little stressed since the limit of my digicam is 10 minutes clips.
If you wonder who I talk to its my 2 year old who stand beside me asking 10000 questions about each move I make.

Seems like all you had to do was copy the right link into this post to make it show up.Last edited by Denno; 02-06-2009 at 11:01 PM.

Denno - just edit your post, delete all the <embed> stuff and simply paste the youtube address of your video copied from your address bar. I think our forum software takes care of the embedding itself.

Nope, guess not. But those two links work, I think.

work on keeping the angle to 30 deg ( see your video to observe when you use wrong angle )
It is important to use the other hand to strech the skin for a better shaving.

Now I got it to work.
Yeah I need to strech more maby. But I get a pretty good shave just by blowing up my face like I do. *lol*

You hardly stretch at all. If the result is smooth, that's no big deal. But if you have some smoothness issues, stretching will definitely improve things.
Another big advantage of stretching is that you can pull the skin below the jawbone, up to the cheek area and shave it there. This work especially well during the WTG pass, and saves a lot of trouble with shaving over the jaw bone.
I can't comment on your blade angles, they're different for every beard. Generally shallower when going ATG and more in the 20 to 30 degrees ballpark WTG. It looked all very acceptable in your video, in my opinion. You also seem to get the low pressure thing quite well.
looks like you're doing fine.

Nice vid. I too have a 2 year old. He stands on a stool besides me and uses his toy shaving kit that I bought him. He goes through the whole thing with stropping his toy straight to lathering up with his toy brush.
This does two things. It keeps him out of my stuff, and it gives us some bonding time every morning.
The best part is when we are done, put on the aftershave, and he runs out to his mama yelling "mama, smell me". This starts the day off nicely.

Hi denno!
thanks for posting the video, i think you are doing great, if you can shave like this without stretching the skin you dont know how good your shaves will be after you stretch properly, it can only make it better.
There is nothing of a noob on you, it took me months to shave as well as you do, i think the most important thing is that you have developed the touch and understand the concept.
Congrats man!!
