Nice blue whetstone party, Bart! It looks like you had a lot of fun
I'll admit I thought you might eat the whole setup as a grand finale when I saw you spreading green butter over that moldy bread, but then I realized I just didn't eat breakfast this morning like I should have.

Great little video. Thanks. I like the size of that stone!
Interesting to see CrO used that way. I've yet to get any, but i may well do now & give it a go.
Nice to see you get a great shave off the BBW & a little work with paste, even though not the conventional method, as i was on the "Yes you can" side of the fence!

I can't believe anyone commented on the perfect song. JJ Cale - Magnolia!
Love both the video and song Bart!
Thx for sharing.
Glen and I don't have a mustache or beard? But mostly walk around with naked forearms. So Basically all honemeisters have a beard, mustache or naked forearm.

Thanked: 1212Thanks for the testimonial, Robin.
Maybe a disclaimer is in order. I don't think the BBW is the perfect stone for an entire honing job. I just wanted to show that, in a pinch, it can be done. And if there's a bit of CrO nearby one doesn't even have to settle for a "basic" edge.
Now, the downsides:
1. bevel work within a reasonable time frame requires a bit more pressure than what I would normally recommend. As long as you're only maintaining an edge this is of no consequence, but if you regularly need to do bevel correction work on the same razor (for instance, because you have an abrasive beard that causes build up of micro chips at the edge, or because you introduce convexity to the bevel during a number of touch-ups on a pasted hanging strop), this augmented pressure could start to introduce bevel unevenness after a number of such honing jobs.
On a hone more suitable for bevel correction, it is possible to maintain subtle and equal pressure.
To comensate, I TPT'd several times during the honing and placed my finger where the edge needed it the most.
2. The CrO easily rinses off after use, but then it's gone of course. Unless you have a BBW to spare and you can just let it sit to dry for the next time (great for performing a touch up), this is a waistfull method of using CrO. (the big advantage, already mentioned, is that it allows edge leading honing on CrO and introduces zero convexity) Because the CrO is not able to focus on the very edge by convexing it, it takes more work than stropping on a CrO loom or paddle strop.
