Default Shaving videos from NC meet added to YouTube

Dave worked his magic and a couple of shaves from last summer's straight razor convention in Asheville have been added to YouTube:

    coully & dwessell:
YouTube - Straight Razor Place '09 Convention. Simon shaving Dave - Part 1 of 2

YouTube - Straight Razor Place '09 Convention. Simon shaving Dave - Part 2 of 2

    coully & Joe Chandler:

YouTube - Straight Razor Place '09 Convention. Simon shaving Joe - Part 1 of 3

YouTube - Straight Razor Place '09 Convention. Simon shaving Joe - Part 2 of 3

YouTube - Straight Razor Place '09 Convention. Simon shaving Joe - Part 3 of 3

If you can take the opportunity to attend a meet up, do so. They are invaluable learning and teaching experiences in the using straight razors and in getting involved in the straight razor users community.

To see what meet ups are currently being planned or are underway, go to the Get Togethers and Meetings forum.

More info and pictures from the NC meet during which these videos were recorded can be found here (thanks to sicboater!): SRP 2nd annual SE Gathering

There's another cameraman visible in the first video. That looks like some professional equipment he's got!

Is there going to be a 1080p version of these shaves too?

Also, had the barber in the videos shaved others before, or was is he a novice?

That was the local television news cameraman. They did a short spot later that day or the next day - I forget which - and interviewed Lynn and a couple of others as well I believe

Not as far as I know. But if you'd like to donate your new HD camera to SRP, I'll make sure you get a favorable mention in the SRP museum. You might even get your name on a coffee mug

That's Simon of SRP barbering fame. Someone told me that he used to give straight razor shaves to coworkers while working on oil rigs - or some such fantastical story like that. Maybe someone will page him to ask if he'll come share some experiences

Oh yeah? That's pretty cool! I hope someone taped the footage from TV so they can upload it to YouTube. I'm sure a lot of members would be interested in seeing that.

Heh heh. Tempting offer! I think a line of shaving mugs with my "Space Chimp" on them would be pretty hot sellers, don't you?

Straight razor shaving a crew of oil riggers, eh? That's awesome. I've shaved a number of people myself. It's pretty easy in some ways, but difficult in others. I mean, you're used to shaving your own face, but the you have to use a totally different technique and grips. I'd say the main plus, though, is not having to worry about cutting yourself - if you slip, you've only cut the guy in the chair!
