Japanese barber shaving with a kamisori
Hi, this is my first post here. After wondering why the hell the same dovo razor i bought for $37 about ten years ago now costs over $80, my investigation eventually led me to this forum. Seems like quite a few people have had the same idea since then. Anyway, I saw some interesting discussions about traditional Japanese razors and did a little poking around on the internets for some more info. I found these cool videos by a Japanese barber on youtube. Hope nobody's posted this before.
the rest are at https://www.youtube.com/user/barberyanagi
I also came up with quite a few pages searching for 日本剃刀 (nihon kamisori).

I'm guessing it's more to do with demand, seeing as how decent used strops seem to have disappeared from ebay, and old razors that used to go for a couple of dollars are going for $20 and up.

Thanked: 2591I think this video disproves the theory that kamisori are used only omote side to the face.
