Need Help!! How do I straighten these scales??
Now i am about to take this razor apart and start restoring it. So I would just like some ideas on how I could get these scales to be straight without ruining them and the emblem on it. Any advice would be great and thanks for looking!

i took a hairdryer when i had a blade hitting the scale. worked just fine for me.
apply heat to the area where you wanna bend it back. once its warm put tension on it so it is straight, and keep this grip and fast rens it under cold water. repeat 2-3 times.
i had not read about it but i just tested it and it did work for me. might aswell work for you if your lucky. if you have a razor/scales you dont care much for try on that first so you get a feeling of it.//Magnus

CV, I've done it w/ hot water as the honorable Rick says. It will sometimes leave a cloudy finish on the scales that polishes back to normal. Some of the better guys in resto advocate steam over water - haven't tried yet.
.
Should you find the scales bow inwards - closing up the gap that the blade needs to occupy, a popcicle stick or similar can be inserted between scales to prevent this. If the gap is normally too thin to accept the popcicle stick, sanding some thickness from the stick should give a proper fit. The stick holds the gap at the right width while you apply bending pressure to the softened scales.

Boil then in water until the soften up and take them out and shape. They will cool down in less than 2 minutes and you would have disinfected then as well.

Steam may be better. I'd try that first. I wouldn't use boiling. Boil the water then let it cool down. These things can get hot and flexible and become all sorts of shapes. None of which you can use for your razor.

Thanked: 13247The bad news:
Those are Beau Brummel Scales, a close cousin to the Dubl Duck razors, which means that their scales are of the same formula of Celluloid (there are many)..
With that extreme of a warp, and taking into account the brand of scales I would be very suspect of the scales, either already beginning to degrade with Celluloid Rot or being very close to that stage
Cell Rot is insidious in that it it different with the different formulas so it is hard to nail down the early symptoms but I would be highly suspect of those scales..
Use the search feature to find more about "Celluloid Rot" I know I put up a few pics and descriptions in the past on here and so did others
