Size: 52.2 KBI have been actually using and trialing out duracoat and cerakote with excellent results so far on the entire razor, blade and tang.
I have blued a couple of razors but I really like the idea of using a duracoat. I might give that a try - it but truth be told I have given in to not having "perfect" razors sans blemish anymore... But at one time I hated the blemishes, I wanted perfect razors - so I cold blued a couple, three blades. You can't hot blue a razor. At least that's what I was told when I looked into it, so I cold blued them.

I love the look! Love it.

I hated the smell! And I mean hated! Moreover, remember you are putting the blade up to your nose every shave so if you are prone to scents... The stuff I used (stuff I got at Brownells for cold bluing), caused the blade to smell of burnt metal. It reeked for months. Did I say I hated the smell? Anyway, knowing that the smell leaves now, would make me more willing to try again. I would simply put the blade away for a while.

Do it in the summer when you can work outdoors. Doing it in the cold isn't as effective.

Here is one I did - note I don't hone with tape. Keep that in mind too if you don't like that "look." Oh wait - I hadn't honed it yet when I took the photo's - Anyway there is a line of silver on the spine too now that I honed it without tape. BTW, the blue has held very well. I blued it to get a black btw...
