Default Scroll saw or Band saw?

As i have been always using a coping saw for my scales i am now eventually thinking of purchasing a power tool to cut my scales.

I would like to know from you guys which should i invest with a band saw or a scroll saw?

Now they will not be anything heavy duty but our local Canadian tire sells them for about 100$ each when they go on special.

I use wood, acrylic, some bone, some horn and my own micarta.

Which one would be better suited for this?

Thank you again for any advice.

I have a scroll saw and it is way too easy to make a bad cut. Just the tiniest distraction. IMO a wider blade would be much better. When the funds are here I will be getting a band saw.

Band saw. You can split you'r stock lengthwise as well with a band saw. I't can be done on a scroll saw but it's a lot harder to do. Scroll saws cut very slow and tend to clog up, or burn the material, when cutting material like horn or acrylic. I have both at my disposal at work and the band saw is always what I'm using. You'll find it to be a more versatile saw.

Watch Craigslist,go to tool auctions in your local, buy old american steel.look for a delta rockwell 14 inch.If the castings and trunnions are in decent shape you can re-build one for cheap.

    Never used a bandsaw before....found a second-hand scrollsaw for $30.00.
It's all I've ever used. Hope this helps.
