    Default robeson shuredge scales

I bought this robeson razor with some warped scales and have unpinned the blade to clean it and was hoping to straighten the scales without unpinning the other end. It almost looks like the spacer is one piece with the scales. Is this possible?

I haven't personally owned any, but have seen them before online. Of course this would mean unpinning this end would be pointless.
Do you know what the scale material is? And how are you going to attempt to unwarp them?
From the pic I am guessing it may be bakelite. Can't say I've ever tried unwarping a set.

I'm not 100% sure what the scale material is because it didn't have the same acrid smell that the other Bakelite scales have had that I've straightened. I ended up dipping them in boiling water for a few seconds and then clamping them to various thicknesses of plastic and metal spacers until I got them straight. It took more than a few tries, but I did get them straight. I'm glad I didn't need to unpin the other end. I would still be interested to know if they made them one piece for future projects.

A lot of scales were made with the spacer molded into them. They are not one-piece. One-half the spacer is molded into each side of the scales, making an entire spacer when they are pinned together. Even the "one-piece" scales were made in two pieces and were bonded together without using a pin.

i ended up taking the scales apart not to straighten them but because the pin holes didn't line up. looks like that might be how it was from the factory, it seems they compensated for the crooked pins be making the hole in the tang over-sized. you can kind of see from the first picture that the bolsters are misaligned. thought i would share what the scales look like taken apart for those interested.
