So I have done some light sanding and I did the rough cut of the scales (they are on the larger side to accommodate changes). And next to it there is an 8/8 John Shaw celebrated razor and a wade and butcher American razor that measures 7/8. This razor just dwarfs both of them to the point where the w&b looks like a 5/8-6/8.

I made washers for mine with what you see here. I drill a 1/4 hole in a chunk of steel. Hardwood may work or even certain plastic.
put the flat washer in and smack it with a rounded punch.

I got the washers from Microfastener
You could also go with stacked washers.

All depends on the look you want and what you can do. Do you have pins already ? The ones you saw in mine are 3/32 brass. I used flat bill vice grips to hold them while I drilled out the washers. If you use 1/16 pins you won't need to do that.

Yes I have the pins and they are 1/16

Looking Good!
The reason that lead was used for the wedge/spacer was to help with the balance of the razor! As was previously posted a lead tire weight could be used to try to duplicate the original.

There are lots of posts on washers but I found these 2 methods the best. You could punch your own washers, turn them, or make a block to stamp them out of sheet. You could also buy bullseye collars from here >> The Imperial Shave Shaving Razor Quality. He sells them on e-bay too. You might ask for the cost of just 1 or 2 sets. I have seen them sold that way before.

i am going with stacked washers and i already have the pins and i just ordered a brass blank that is about 2.5mm and the best news for me at leat is that i just bought this sander for $50 from CL. the guy wanted $90 but my suave talk brought him down to $50. he advertised as almost new, but it is in fact new although the box is falling apart and he almost got me to buy a used craftsman grinder for $40.
CRAFTSMAN 6 IN. DISC SANDER, 4 X 36 IN. BELT LIKE NEW IN BOX

Here is an update the scales are about 50% done, and I would leave the polishing as is on the blade.
