floppy pivot
How do I go about tightening the pivot pin on a razor, it isn't really loose, but just enough to be a nuisance when stropping, the scales are solid and probably plastic or bakelite unsure which, I guess they could even be celuloid, though they are black and look a lot like old bakelite, though this isn't really relevant, just pointing out that I dont think they are overly fragile.
Thanks for your help. Ed.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Thanked: 13245Ed, check the Vid forum http://straightrazorpalace.com/videos/
There are at least 4 that I remember in there
Lynn
Charlie/Spazola
Alex/Philadelph
Glen/gssixgun (obviously the best looking guy of the bunch )
I think Brad/Undream might have one there too
There are quite a few ways to do it, from two table spoons to the Jeweler's Blocks and 2-4oz Peening hammersLast edited by gssixgun; 09-04-2013 at 03:25 PM.

I am definately going to have to find the spoons video, they are about the only thing on the list that I currently have ready access to, I have a largeish claw hammer, but I think that would spell disaster .
Can't imagine how its going to work, thanks glen.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Thanked: 13245Just make sure you do NOT use the wife's good stuff
Put one Tablespoon on the table face down, place the pin touching the curved surface firmly, use the bottom of the second spoon to tap the pin that is facing you, tap tap tappity tap, flip the razor and continue until it tightens to where you want..
But watch a few of the Vids to get a better idea..
TAKE YOUR TIME

Thanked: 3226Ed
If you have the OZ equivalent of the Dollar Store you could likely find a suitable small peening hammer for cheap.

Now it makes sense, I will watch a video though. I have a spoon and a fork, in my room, would that work? Or are the two curved surfaces needed, in which case I will procure another spoon. I learned patience in tasks a while back, I imagine I would be "cracking an egg" or that sort of pressure anyway.

Ed you could probably use the handle of a knife if its rounded. Maybe on end. According to glens Vd pressure used is enough that it wouldnt hurt if you hit your nail. Good luck. Ed

Found a place in perth called Australian Jewellry Supplies. Could go nuts in there. Have blocks and tiny hammers 100g. Had a 6x2 Translucent ark(checked with my torch, yes I carry a torch for work) for$66
