When buying old or vintage straight razors, is there a definitive ( preferably non-destructive) method to determine if the scales are made of horn, plastic, celluloid etc ?
Also what is the best method to repair and treat these various types of scales ie
I have read on the forum, for horn use a nail buffer and neatsfoot oil, any other suggestions for this and other types of material ?
Any advice would be welcomed !
