Default Guitar scratch boards for scale replacement ?

Just wondering if anyone has tried these as scale replacements ?
Seems to be plenty reasonably priced plastic and celluloid on ebay.

I think they would be too thin for scales?
How thick of material are they?

Hey Chev, I've seen some advertised with a 3mm thickness.
A lot of vendors don't give dimensions though...

They would be thin but seems like it could work.
From their stillness came their non-action...Doing-nothing was accompanied by the feeling of satisfaction, anxieties and troubles find no place

Interesting idea... If they *were* too thin, that would then open up the possibility of adding some layers and colour combinations.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Seems like they have sticky backs on them also?
Wonder if that would thin them down even more so?

I was just looking at Stewart MacDonald and they have quite a variety of materials, thicknesses, with, and without adhesive backing. So I imagine there must be many many other options from other suppliers too. StewMac even carry bakelite pickguards for anyone interested in old school plastics.

Personally, I'll stick to the natural stuff, but I'd love to see how this works out if anyone else tries it.

I'm always happy to try new stuff, Chev

I've been looking at these for a few months and
have noticed that not all have self-adhesive backing....

Some are thicker than 3mm as well !!
Some are 3 ply which could be interesting.

    I just haven't had the...errr, inclination.
Sorry, I don't mean to sound pompous.

I found these chopping boards at my local
$2.00-shop and I love the "green" colour.
I'm busy with them at the moment.
