    I didn't mean to say you should avoid the use of acrylic. It's just my own personal preference.

    Try anything and everything and make your own opinion on the subject.

    All good stuff..

    But no one addressed the question of where to buy and what thickness other than 3mm as a start....

    I am searching for some giraffe bone as well as acrylic. I've found a source for some materials, but the sizes don't seem to be targeted at razors. It's either sheet goods or too small.. Masecraft Supply - Online Store

    I personally think Micarta is a good choice for beginners. Cheaper and easier to work with than G10. I tried making a set of acrylic scales this past week only to break them while peening the razor. Micarta on the other hand is a lot tougher and more forgiving.
