    As Lemur said, you can see what look like pin holes in the surface that turn into little black dots that seem to go under the surface when dirt collects in them. Bone also seems to be a bit more translucent in my experience.

    The holes are called Halversian canals,bone in a living animal has it's own blood flow as bone is a living organ.
    The holes are the arterys and viens of bone.

    Looks like bone to me bc I do not see schraeger lines but do see blood lines as I believe Lemur stated.

    You can try sanding them a bit on the inside and smell, bone reaks like bone. Ivory is pretty odorless.
