Thanked: 1936Could be either. I would like to hear you put that blade away in a new zip loc bag for a few days. Then break the seal and smell. I hope for your sake that the blade was put away wet, but there is always that worry about cell-rot. By the looks of that blade, you could go down a few grits to 1K or so to really clean it up. By my experience, once I start shaving with a blade...it never gets back to the "hand sand/clean-up" pile.

Doing the ziplock test. Will open it Friday and see if there's any funky odor.

Well, happy to report after 4 days in the ziplock it emerged with odor whatsoever. Hopefully that means for now, no cell rot.

FWIW I usually go with Mothers and a wire brush for my dremel clone when a straight turns up.
Just to see what's underneath the crud and neglect :
Seems to do the trick for me.

Alright, aside from honing it up, I'm about done with this one. The saints aren't completely gone but they're gone enough for me lol
