    Default Cyanoacrylate finish is nice

I cooked up Bolivian Rosewood scales yesterday and finished with dollar store super glue and disposable brushes. I must say it is very nice; deep, shiny and hard. The surface feel reminds me of very hard plastics. I oversanded some areas, so I need to get some more brushes and do some touch up.

Any tips on this? What glues and methods are you gentlemen using? I already learned the part where you don't put your big, dumb face into the fumes and gas yourself.

I apply CA with a cut off finger from a Nitrile glove - usually on my left index finger. You can turn a dirty glove inside out, and recycle it. Sand between each coat - usually 3 to 4 coats. +1 on the fumes!

I also go the glove route, but I cut off the fingers and get 5 uses per glove. The key thing is to keep your finger moving at all times to avoid getting glued to your scales.

Ah, I will have to try that. I have a whole box of gloves.

Hard to get a pic but here is the finish after touching up.

Lemur, bongo and Chevhead like this.

Outstanding. I just learned a bunch of that the hard way. I am having good luck doing the final polish on a plain cotton wheel.

i found the cut glove tips the best for smooting out, I also tried cotton tips but the gloved finger works alot better

Finished up that set and they look dynamite. I have never much liked poly or epoxy due to the softness of those coatings. The hardness of the CA is just what I wanted.

A box of finger cots goes a long ways...everyone has to do it at least once, I'm done with CA personally.
