Thread: What can be done for this pitting?

I just don't know,, I guess the next test would be to put it in a sealed baggie for a few days and see if you get oxidation...

But the pattern of the corrosion you showed in the first pic looks like it is from Cell Rot... can't really tell in the pics is it that way on both sides ????

No Glen it's only on the right side of the blade.

As you can see I am trying to narrow it down but it is frustrating hehehe

Glen, the scales seem to be equally warped with the two coming together somewhat evenly on the backside.
I took the best pictures I could with my digital camera under two flexible lamps with 100w GE Reveal bulbs for you to see the best you can.
The earlier pictures were with my Samsung Galaxy S2 camera. I hope this helps you out some.

See what happens by putting it in a baggie for 2-3 days, if there is no oxidation then you should be fine... That is all I got brother, I know what the steel looks like, but I am just not seeing any other signs... A conundrum

If the whole blade is pitted down to the edge I'd be worried about whether it will hone without microchipping.

The pitting seems to end about 3/16" from the edge onimaru55. I'll try the baggie Glen and let you know if I see any oxidation.

Might be in with a chance then if it passes the baggie test.

It looks kind of like cell rot to me. Even though it is more noticeable on the backside of the razor, you can kind of see the same oxidation on the show side that was just harshly buffed out.

With all this talk about it I am about ready to just return it to the seller.
The description said "modest patina and pitting" but the pictures on the auction didn't look too bad compared to in person.
