    Default Brand new razor loose?

Hello all, I have a brand new Dovo Micarta razor and it seems to be a little loose. I have to open the blade by hand but wherever I stop once it's open it can move about 1/4 inch either way on it's own by just tilting the scales back and forth. I was told that isn't normal in that chat room and to ask everyone on the forums as to how to fix it? So is this something I can easily fix on my own? Thanks.

    Michael.

Yep. Just lightly tap the pin with a hammer when the blade is closed and the bottom part of the razor is resting on a hard surface. Just make sure that you lightly tap, don't go crazy.

Yup...couldn't have said it better myself - you might find it better to use a hammer and a punch - rest the punch on the pin and LIGHTLY tap the punch with the hammer...I haven't yet had to do anything like this, but if you have Lynn's DVD he actually goes over how to fix this problem and shows you as he does it himself.

If you're worried about using excessive force by mistake use a teaspoon to tap on the pin, many light taps are far better than one big one.

I could never make the spoon work. I whacked and whacked at it with no difference. Gentle taps with a carpenter's hamer from less than an inch away did fine. Just be careful and remember that you want to mushroom the pin out evenly in all directions to snug it up.

Ditto for the spoon - never worked for me.

The hammer has the added benefit that if you happen to be seen by family and / or neighbours, you would not be considered loco immediately

    Cheers
