While I’ve never purchased a razor in very bad condition, I have on occasion been given one to clean up and hone! Well OK, more than on occasion!
Before attempting to spend my time, effort and materials I always check to see how it will hone up FIRST!
Glen may recall when I sent him a rather strange razor that my mate Tom in the UK had sent me, I was so impressed with the way that near full wedge shaved that I sent it to him to have him remove it from the scales and buff it for me!! I then re-honed it and sent it back across the Big Pond!
I paid Glen for his work and didn’t charge my mate a penny!
As always Glen has offered some good sound counsel and I hope other will learn from what he has shown!!
Thanks Glen! Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

Glen, in your first post you said Rule #2 is making sure you have good steel to hold an edge before you go headlong into the resto.. What's Rule #1 ?
