Exotic wood suppliers (Australia)
Hello folks,
Im hoping someone here can put me onto a reliable supplier of rare/exotic/unusual wood in Australia.
I've tried the following places with either no or an unsatisfactory response.
http://www.auswood.com.au/timberdetails.html (no response to emails for 5 days)
http://www.woodcentre.com.au/ (tried to tell me Acacia excelsa (NT Ironwood)and Erythrophleum ehlorostachys (Cooktown Ironwood)are the same woods)
http://www.trendtimbers.com.au/index.php (not interested)
So far http://www.loggerheads.com.au/ seem to be the most promising.
Any locals have a suggestion?

There is an ebay seller that has quite a good range of woods (bushworker).
Where abouts are you?

drsch3: Thanks for the head's up.
Checked his listings but all his stock blanks are a touch too short for making scales, Im looking for blanks in the 20X30X180mm range. Also sent him a message to see if he could do different sizes.
Jimbo: Thanks for that site, I've added it to my list for future reference. Unfortunately they dont have the wood Im after this time around.

Hi Lancer,
You may like to try Bushworker on Ebay, all aussie timbers though.
Or you can try THIS one but I don't know much about it.
Or Brads Burls, another mainly aussie wood merchant, he is also on ebay.
And last but not least I would go to this aussie forum Woodwork Forums, it's huge and has just so much information, I would join up there and ask the same question.
Hope this helps
John
