    One mailbox key coming up....

Here we have a restored swayback mailbox key that I finished today. Made from brass, it measures a full 1.5 inches long from tip of tang to the toe end of the scale. The lock interaction area is a full 1/2 inch. It was in decent shape when I got it but I had to work the tang a bit for it to all look right. The "cutting area" is 3/16 wide so it's a real chopper for mailbox keys.

Scales are Lignum Vitae, wedge is Gabon Ebony, and the hardware is silver nickel. It was all finished in beeswax (hence the dust sticking to it). You know, this was fun! Don't think I'll do it again but it was a blast to do.

It's nowhere near the quality of your scales but this one's so damned small! The giant scales it's sitting on are actually normal size and they're my current real project.
