Thanked: 1Beyond Repair?
I've got a 5/8" Ontario Cutlery full hollow razor. While getting the crud off I chipped the blade. Is there anything that can be done to get the blade back in shaving condition at this point? Thanks for the input.
Sincerely,
Bryce

Thanked: 13249Yes as long as there are no cracks emanating from the chips and assuming that you do not cause any while honing..
This is of course slightly more difficult then normal honing, but yes it should be possible from looking at the picsLast edited by gssixgun; 11-28-2013 at 04:32 AM.

Thanked: 1So I can just hone this out? That is a relief. Should I start with 1000 and then just continue the hone or do you recommend a lower grit first off?
Sincerely,
Bryce

Thanked: 61I have bread knifed ( dragging the edge, leading with the spine at a high angle almost perpendicular to the sandpaper like youre buttering a piece of bread) with 400 grit sandpaper until the chip is not there then hone as usual... You'll lose blade thickness but save some time on honing... This could be wrong but it's what I do
