Default Is it possible to tighten he Scales

I have a three month old Dovo best Quality and the scales or pins are loose, the blade will open with no effort. I also have a Dove Bismarck and the blade is tight in the scales(meaning when I close the razor it stays closed). So my question is can you tighten up the scales without damage???

    Thanks in Advance

You can tighten the pins if you have a small ball peen hammer, or you can even use a spoon. Very light taps around the edge of the pin on both sides of the scales should tighten it up. I was taught early on how you can judge how hard to tap is by tapping on your thumbnail..if it hurts then you're tapping too hard.

Just one more thing to add is very very light taps with a tablespoon and it may take 30-100 taps... Don't rush it or try to tap harder because one small slip and u can crack the scales if your hitting too hard

Look at youtube under lynn abrams, he has a very good video on tightening pivot pins. Seeing it done first helps to get an idea of the process really helped me in the beginning.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

I've tried hitting my thumbnail but the scales don't get any tighter.....

If Dovo uses the new style pins then only one side is peened. I don't know if tapping the other side with a head like a nail would do anything.

Using a scrap of soft wood for a base won't do much either...
