Default Where to buy wood for razor stand?

Not sure which subforum this question should go to. I've got a dremel kit on the way and thinking about making a 7 day stand. Where do you guys go to find small but nice samples of wood? Pardon me for not looking around the forums too much, but figured I'd take the lazy way and just ask. Also, curious to hear from others who have completed this kind of project. I saw a razor stand recently that was a work of art in itself and inspired me.

Any particular vendors you like for your brush blanks? I saw a lathe I could pick up for 100 bucks at harbor frieght and that got me thinking too.
