Restoring my recent kropp straight razor
Hi chaps I have just got hold of a match pair. 5/8 full hollow in the original box.one razor has a slight blemish on the point and both have slight rust On the tang. However I thing 1 will come back with a good chromium oxide stroping I'm more worried about the rust and blemish. Here is the question... What is the best way to restore them to a top notch finish

Thanked: 4828A picture is worth a thousand words. Active red rust and anything above the shell surface gets scraped off with a razor blade. The surface gets a god scrub with steel wool and polish. Then I make a guess as to if I continue with steel wool or start sanding. I try to sand with the highest grit possible to get blemishes out. I often start at 400 and then go up. On rare occasions I start with 1500. Of course all of this is provided that I have looked at the edge with a loupe or have set a bevel and I am absolutely certain this blade will take an edge.

Cheers RezDog. If I knew how to get a picture On here I would deffo put one up. The rust blemishes are on the tang only so I think I can rework that part and. repolish as it isn't too serious. The mark on the edge isn't rust. It looks like a very bad water mark. I am loath to give up on them as they're a match pair in the original box.
