Soaking the stones now my friend. Good advice as usual.

I noticed something while I was sanding but thought I was just being a pantywaist. Now that I'm honing I can tell for sure that blade is hard, hard, hard. I don't know what they did when they Forged it but MAN is that thing hard.
Minor issues, keepin it all original, is my choice.

I bought two razors. When I got them I found a crack in the blade of one but it had some bone scales. After unpinning I thought I'd put them on a Keenkutter I picked up. After polishing I found a small crack in the bone. Stabilized the crack with CA and pinned it up. Ta-Da! Simmons KeenKutter K10 in bone. The grind is thin but it gets a little thicker at the very tip.

Curious on how it's going to act on the stones when I get a chance. The "Needs Honed Cup" is getting full again. Looks like the stabilizer might need a little work first.
Nice Jerry. It amazes me looking at some of those old razors how precise the grind is. Looking at it from the end it looks like they did it with a machine but I'm sure that was hand ground. He do some really nice work.
This is actually a small 'project', well 1 of 2. The first one is a custom box for my razors...I can fit 6 in there If i manage to get them in spine up, otherwise I think 4 is the most. So far, the issue is, I'm not sure how to prevent the blades from moving around inside. Any ideas? The satin is just a piece of cloth wrapped around the pick-n-pluck foam.

I'm waiting for more foam to come in for the "Shaving Box". Old Cigar box, some foam, glue and a satin cloth! It's not much, but suggestions are welcome!
Wrench organizers work well.....

The nice thing about box liners is you can make them as simple or as complex as you like.
Ooh those are already giving me ideas, ty
I went with Toms idea of the wench holders and Outback idea of the jewelry box. Both turned out nice.

Thanks. Now my problem is which one shave with. :rofl2:
But they all can be turned, for a profit. In comparison to what their bought for. So I look at it as an investment, rather than just spending money.
Keeps the wife happy. :rofl2:
I've gone as far as to test shave 3 in one shave. But for my razor collection, I'd have to shave with each about a 1/4 inch before grabbing the next plus do three passes. Then think of the time for cleaning and stropping them all again. Make my arm hurt thinking about it.
Am I really the 1st to weigh in on Jerry's "wench-holder"? I sure would like to have me one of them! (I'm just funnin' with our beloved Gasman-you are the king of the boxes, Jerry!). Now I feel like my razors are slumming in my cigar box.
Just remember i stole the idea from Tom. I made mine. Strips of wood cut with a chop saw. It wasn't too difficult. Just angle the saw to 45 degrees.
I have made a few display cases for two plus a couple for five and seven. I have gone to the complicated end of the spectrum.

It’s kind of about how much time do you want to spend and how complicated to want the design. Come the end of the day it’s sort of about what makes you happy. I enjoy the process of making the boxes and liners. It’s kind of like doing puzzles.
Nice work, Shaun! :tu
Step away for a couple days and boom, lovely boxes everywhere...nicely done all of you.
Was waiting for some parts for my Packwood (and it's been really hot in my garage) so I decided to grind away on the Fredrick Reynolds with the cracked tip that seemed to be destined for wind chime duty. Lo and behold It may live again!. I got to clean steel at the edge and there is one small nick and a few pits left on the bevel. One more good session after I re-flatten my bevel set stone may bring it back :y The picture is one of three similar areas on the bevel. I'll finish the Packwood first, but this will definitely be my next project. Kind of excited this might live again.

All this drawer and box talk is giving me case envy
Lots of ways to keep them....Unique boxes are cool

I like open displays the best. Where they can be seen without opening a box.

I love that table. Display boxes and cases are fun to design and build. I think my favourite that I have made is the slip case I made for Charlie. There is more of those to come I think.
Guess I should add mine, for added affect.

I like to display most of my users with the blades open in HO train display cases.
They can be seen without handling and are easily retrieved for shaving.

I have my main display cabinet with the blades open for viewing but also I have have VCI emitters in there and with the blades open it increases the working ability of the emitters. Tiny emitters can be in the small cases as well.
Thanks for the reminder, Rez. While I have not had any issues, I DO seem to have some emitters.
I will get some in my displays soon!
I like the slip boxes. I had plans for one but got distracted and made a simple box. I still need to make one of those some day. Nice displays everyone!
I think if you look at all the posts you can see that there is a ton of angles to approach it from and they go from simple to complicated, and are all very functional and do the intended job.
Until you outgrow it, that is! ;)
