Default I'm going to take on a couple of Resto projects

I don't know what the heck I was thinking but I bought these:

I guess I was thinking they may be a good project. Figured I got them for a reasonable enough price that if they turn out to be total crap, I can practice my honing skills on them. Either way, it will be fun to see what I can do with them.

Ha they look good from what I see. I've shaved with razors that look a lot worse.

    Yep. fixed

    This was the description:

2 antique straight razors GOOD SHAVERS !! – I’d like to introduce myself. I am Phil Krumholz, author of HISTORY OF SHAVING & RAZORS, COMPLETE GILLETTE COLLECTORS HANDBOOK, GETTING TO KNOW YOUR STRAIGHT RAZORS, and other shaving-related books. I am offering some shaving items that I am selling for an estate. These have a reasonable starting price. I note all flaws that can affect the value of your item.

This lot consists of antique straight razors that will make good shavers with some work with a hone and a strop, no blade cracks or chips. Blades a bit loose in the handle from old use. FIRST RAZOR IS A HUGO HERBERTZ SOLINGEN-REMSCHEID WITH COWBONE HANDLES11/16” BLADE. POSSIBLE OLD REPIN. YOU ALSO GET A SHUMATE ST. LOUIS WITH 5/8” BLADE, A REPINNED BLADE THAT RESTS IN A SET OF CELLULOID HANDLES THAT ARE NICELY COLORED LIKE POLISHED AGATE ROCK.

Well, I got them in today. Didn't really turn out to need much work. Some light polishing for some faint water spots and a couple of light rounds on the 4k/8k hone. The Hugo Herbertz needs a little work on one of the pins but nothing major. But, it shaves unbelievable! The Shumate needs a little more polishing near the scales and another round on the hone. Overall, a couple of fantastic razors.

Just finished restoring the Merscheid 440. Designed in Solidworks a new set of scales. Made them in Bocote and finished in CA. Turned out pretty nice. I learned a couple of things and now know what to do different next time.
