scales look great! The shape is very nice and the way the grain is laid out in them is superb.
not sure if you were just setting the scales up against the can for the photo op or if that's how you let them dry, but one trick I've seen is to make little stands out of heavy duty paper clips (or wire coat hanger) and stick the ends through the pin holes in the scales.
Wedge wasnt wide enough so gotta make a new one, razor wouldnt stay closed :-(

Let me rephrase, wasn't wide enough to set a good angle, making a newer better looking wedge... aluminum with a wood core to match the scales... wedge angle sucked and wasn't thick enough to cut a good angle.
Starting point (don't judge it yet, it'll get narrowed down, just filing shape...will get stained and poly)
Gotta thin out the aluminum or get thinner stock but wooden core is pretty much ready.
