Thanked: 6First Restore
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
Well, I have almost made it through my first restore which started as a $7.00 H. Boker from a local antique shop. I bought the razor mainly to learn on, but am actually looking forward to pinning it out, honing and test shaving with it. Nonetheless, I wanted to share here as the result is directly related to the experience each and every one of you have shared - even though I obviously have much to learn!
So here's where it started:
As of today, here's where we are:
As you can see, there is some pitting that I had to give up on... is that what's called "Devil's Spit"? If so, I understand the name...if not.... I need to learn to identify it in order to continue this hobby as I never want to encounter the real stuff!
Any Boker experts out there that can identify this razor? I am curious about it as it isn't like any of the Bokers I have seen around the web... Only indicates that it was made in Germany on the back side... Could it be that it was rescaled at some point? The wear would not have indicated such...but who knows!
Thank you all again for all of your help!

Thanked: 1184Judging by the size of the washers I would guess rescaled. One end being larger than the other. There is a Boker club around here somewhere were you will see more in one spot about them than a whole day of cruising the web :<0) Nice job of cleaning it up .
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
