Thanked: 0Shrunken scales, grinding down spacer wedge.
Hey all,
I got a wonderedge off of ebay, and when I got it it ended up having shrunken/warped scales.
Well I straightened out the scales, and now I'm facing another problem (I searched for a fix but found none btw)
One of the scales is shrunken, and I think I can get it working, but I would have to grind down the spacer wedge to allow for blade clearance.
But heres the kicker: I'd have to grind it down just past the pin hole.
Could I just glue it in, or will I have to drill a new hole?
The blade is in PERFECT condition, but I can't source a replacement scale.
Thanks,

Thanked: 13246Yes no maybe
Most likely regardless of what you do you are probably in the first stages of Cell Rot on the WE,,, a pic would help
Hint: The scales on a WE start off White yes they really do how yellow they are is a good indicator of scale condition..
What I am saying is there is no fix for Cell Rot, and that you might be wasting your time and risking the scales and razor for no good reason
PICS PICS PICS on a white piece of paper would really help

Thanked: 13246Honestly that looks more like heat damage from the pics..
I am not seeing the multiple clues that indicate Cell Rot
In your shoes, I would continue forward with trying to keep the scales as intact as possible, and yes even so far as to glue in the wedge..
Pics Rock hehehehe

Thanked: 0Hey thanks!
I'm wondering if it didn't happen during shipping. I used your boiling water method, and just hope I didn't leave them in too long. But eh, who knows. Until I find a replacement I'll see what I can do xD.
Thanks for your help!

Thanked: 105Before you put those scales back on, take a look at this.
This can happen if it is cell rot.
Ducks are known for this.
