Default Broken Goldedge Scales, Bolsters Salvageable?

So I was trying to unpin a Dubl Duck Goldedge recently and I cracked the scales up by the tang. I was pretty bummed out about this until I remembered seeing a picture of the Dubl Duck bolsters on some new ebony scales, and it looked amazing.

Does anyone have experience transferring these (or any) bolsters to new scales? I'm curious about how to remove them and how precisely the new scales need to be shaped to match. It almost looks like some relief was carved out of the original scales to make the bolsters sit flush, but I won't be sure until I know how to remove them without destroying them (which is a long shot anyways for someone who couldn't unpin the damn thing without breaking it ).

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the quick replies! Hopefully I'll hit my stride with this little project or have the good sense to stop before all is lost.
