I checked those out on ebay and they look almost transparent. Will be looking forward to your finished product. Please don't forget.

What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Well, I finally got around to making some scales out of the brown horn. I liked working with the material. I had to straighten it out with a heat gun before I started, but seemed to flatten out pretty well.
It's pretty dark. You have to get some light behind it to see the pattern in the scales. Tried to show that in the last picture - and got so close you can see all the lint. I also had problems focusing on the whole razor in the first two pics
This is a short Nobiru japanese western. Actually the second set of scales I've done for this. Didn't like the first ones...

Are the scales smooth or did you leave some stria in for better grip?

Its a pity that you cant have the light shine thru the horn 24-7. It makes the horn look like stained glass.
