    Default Pin Set Question

    Hello Gents,

The family is heading to my parent's for Spring Break soon. My Dad and I are going to spend some time in the wood shop making some scales from purple heart for my great grandfather's/his grandfather's Case/Temperite straight razor. I'll be bringing all the supplies to refurbish the blade.

I have a question about pins. I've looked online for pin sets, but I am not sure what to purchase. I'd like to have something that wasn't 10 to 20 sets of pins and also a little more decorative than the plain brass washers. Just wondering is anyone has a source for such a thing.

We will be restoring the razor on the left. The other razor is my grandfather's/his father's razor.

    Suggestions for pins?

Brad Maggard sells pin sets in his websites, or you could get some of the overpriced ones on eBay, or better yet, since you and yor Dad know your way around a woodshop, why not make your own? You can find the right size washers and collars in the library under restorations and scale repair. A hobby shop may have the 1/16" rods you'll need, and I know Jantz has them. If I can pin a razor, anyone can! Lots of threads here on that. Oh, and Maggard's restoration vids on his website are an excellent tutorial. Let us known how they turn out!

Ordered a set from Maggard Razors. They are a class act. They shipped my order within minutes of placing it. Fast Fast!
