Well, another restoration...I guess
I'm not really all that impressed with this one. After getting half way through the design, I started to really not like the looks of it. It took me well over a month to finish these....not because it was difficult, just because I would find better things to do. The blade was worked on by someone else, so I had to make do with the prior work that was already done, in that it needed more work to clean it up (you can see sort of a 'wavey-ness' to the blade face from the 'earlier work'. The face is not dark like in the scan, but polished to a mirror shine). I sanded the spine/tang area to a satin finish, and polished/sanded the blade to a near mirror finish (prior work that was done on the blade left some deep scratches that I do not have the energy/time to work on....plus, I would probably loose the blade stamp.
The scales are purple heart, with brass tubing-inlay (sort of a whim design), brass and black fiber paper liners. A highly unnecessary third/middle pin (asthetics). Sanded to 8K, and coated many times with truoil.
I love TI razors, but I don't love this scale-restoration design
I'm thinking my next set will be something inspired by one of Robert Williams early designs and peas 'first restoration' look....basically, something more sleek and stream line.
We'll see!

P.S. There is a good chance I might sell this TI restoration, but am not sure....Perhaps I'll make a different set of scales for this blade.....Last edited by C utz; 03-19-2007 at 03:02 AM.
