Thanked: 0Hart Steel Hex Pin
I recently purchased a Hart Steel razor and was trying to unscrew the pin to clean the razor. However after it was loosened a little the smooth side of the pin now has started spinning. I wanted to be careful not to damage the razor. Does anyone have a safe method to stop the back side from spinning?

I would suggest something with the texture of an eraser. Provides some grip, but wont mar the surface.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

I've used a silicone pad - that in its normal life is used as a "hot pad" in the kitchen (grabbing things and putting hot thing on)
And make sure you watch for the plastic washers...they are almost invisible when they drop in to the carpet - and lost for ever if your dog tends to hang around any time you are working near a counter...

Thanked: 0Thank you for the suggestions but I am still not having any luck. I am now also getting concerned with stripping the hex. I bought a 5/8 and they do not offer replacements

Did you press the razor down on the pad (hard, fingers on either side of the hex) ?
Seat the wrench all the way?
Back side is not spinning - it's just not moving?Support Movember!

It is odd that you can buy them for the other two sizes. You could always send it to them for repair. Getting a razor with an over tightened pivot might call for a free repair.
When I took my 6/8ths apart it came loose with almost no pressure at all, no need to hold the rear.Last edited by Hart; 05-26-2014 at 11:41 PM.

Thanked: 2027You say you want to take it apart to clean it,use some dental floss,99.9% of razors made in the past 200 yrs,do not come apart.

I took mine apart for no other reason than I could. Curiosity may kill a cat but it made monkeys into man. The screw pivot is an invitation to take it apart, the razor comes with the tool to do it. There is a rainbow of interchangeable and reasonably priced scales. I'd think anyone who didn't take it apart once was odd.
