Thanked: 1184There are lots of videos on pinning. Basically you want the washers to fit snug around the pin and then it doesn't take much pin sticking above the washer to get it to set. If the pin is sticking out more than the thickness of the washer you have waaaay tooo much and it will probably bend before you get it snug. Try to peen an end in the vise until the washer doesn't come off. It shouldn't take more than 4 or 5 maybe 6 hits. This all depends on your material and how hard you smack it but weight of the head with a 3oz hammer is what I use. If you can't get enough of the pin to round over the washer, your to short or the washer hole is too big.
The scales look nice! you will figure it out I am sure. Just takes some trial and error.Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanked: 25Yeah, my problem was that the little washers/cups didn't fit over the end of the pins, so they kept popping off when I would hit them, so I tried w/o the washers and that sucked. So I got lots more pins/washers and I have a box of like 1000 popsicle sticks!
