Thanked: 4Blade off center, 3 times now
Hey All,
Longtime lurker, first time poster (I think).
I've been trying to rescale and keep hitting the same problem, namely, the side of the scales. Before I start peening the pin, I make sure that everything's lined up straight down the middle. Then tap tap tap tap tap etc. And whala (sp?). The blade hits the scales on one side. Then I unpin, which is not fun, and repeat. Whala (again). Same problem. Any words of wisdom?

Thanked: 1587Hello and welcome!
I'm going to give you what is probably the singularly most unhelpful reply - look at what you did the last 3 times, then don't do that again!
Don't worry, there'll be other guys along soon with much more practical advice. I just wanted to say hi really, and welcome.

Thanked: 1184Check to make sure the tang is not bent before you do any more and while the scales are off. Put a straight edge on the spine and compare sides of the tang. If it is DON'T try to hammer it straight. Make bent scales :<0) Or send it out to someone that knows how to do it.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
