    I don't disagree Bill it's just that I find other horns much easier and prefer the end result.
    Here's a rams horn scale I made - nothing wrong, I just prefer Buffalo.

    That looks great Bob.The main problem with the ramhorn as sold on ebay is that it comes from domestic farm animals and can be rather drab in color and figure..
    Is not easy to source but Rocky mtn and desert bighorn (wild)has a far nicer look.

    I agree with Pixelfixed - rams horn looks great polished. I have made quite a number of scale sets for people using rams horn - at their express request - and the colours and flecks in it are quite unlike that found in other horn products.

    I suppose it all depends where you get it from though - the chap who used to provide the blanks I bought seasoned, cut and stacked it himself and colour-matched them. Cost a lot more, but the final result was well worth it.

    MIne was mostly honey coloured with white specks and striations and a few flecks of other colours, including red. No large dark areas.
