Help me, pretty please!
First of all, I don't know if I'm posting in the right section here. If not forgive my ignorance [emoji1] I managed get my hands on a decent dubl duck satinedge (yay!) but the scales are to far gone to restore /reuse. Is there anybody here that can help me get some original scales or does anybody know somone who has some laying around the house, and are willing to part with them? Thanks in advance

I couldn't say wether or not this is thw wrong spot, but posting an add in the "Want to Buy" and "Want to Trade" section of the classified would probably help you out.

Thanked: 3215First off, you probably don’t want old Double Duck scales as they are or will soon be in the same condition as yours.
Double Duck scales are notorious for off gassing and consuming themselves with cell rot.
10pups is a Double Duck expert and has done some amazing restorations. He even has a post in the Workshop thread on step by step Double Duck scale making and bolster transfers. As does Glen, i believe.
Look up his post, I think it was earlier this year and shoot him a PM. He’s a great guy and would steer you in the right direction.
Post some photos, if they are off gassing get the scales off quick and store them separately from your razors, sealed in plastic. They will consume your razors if you don’t.
Ducks are fine shavers.

+1 on making new scales 10pups is a pro on these feathered refurbs with many posts on here, also Chevhead posted a great how to PDF last month or so on fitting the bolsters also that would help,
That is if the scales have inlays and bolsters ?Saved,

Thanks for the thoughts guys, I'll send pups a pm to get me goin'.
Luckily the blade and scales came separate. It indeed has some signs of cell rot pitting on the blade so I won't be using them again.Last edited by Lumberjohn; 07-26-2014 at 10:03 AM.

I like Ducks & have seen some very nice ones but I got a small lot of razors once & in them was a duck that was so eaten up by call rot, both scales & blade, that I don't plan on owning one anytime soon because they seem to be a high maintenance item plus the best thing to do is to keep them separate from all other razors. Don't get me wrong, when they're nice, they're beautiful razors. Just my 2 cents.

Thanked: 3215Yea, I have seen his re-scales up close, held them in my hand. They are nicer in person than the photo. The photos do not do his work justice. And it is some work fitting the bolsters, better said fitting the scale ends to fit the bolsters perfectly.'
It takes a lot of patients and trial and error fitting, sanding, fitting, sanding to get them to fit perfectly.
10pups did a rainbow of colored transparent scales working on a seven day set. Here is a photo of the ones he had completed at our January meet, he’s done more since.
Enjoy.
