Default Friodur pivot pin not tight

I have never ever tried to repair a straight razor but now I am tempted to do some minor work on my Friodur. Its pivot pin is not as tight as I would like it to be. I have tried some soft hammer blows on it but to no avail. I dare not use more force worried that I might crack one or even both scales.

    Any suggestions?

It takes about 100 gentle blows to get the pin nice and tight.. Stop every 20 and test.

Kees, I use table spoon to tighten AND completely repin the razor. The comfortable force for pinning is as much as you can stand hitting your thumb nail, as put by Bill E once...

I put the razor onto pretend anvil (my hammer), and spoon away...

Also, if possible, do not hit the center of the pin.....tap around the edge of the pin-head area. What makes this also tricky is do not hit the scales either

Either the round side of a spoon or a small ballpeen hammer will work. Tap light and often...

What I do is to use masking tape around the pin (pin head exposed) place the opposite side of the pin on a solid surface (anvil, side of hammer head) and tap around on one side. Flip and repeat on the other side, and test the tightness every so often.

ALSO, if possible, and you feel daring, I find that opening the blade straight and tightening the pin a little, also helps (tape the blade straight so there is no 'swing' of the blade while tapping). AND be careful of an open blade...if you are not sure, put masking tape on either side of the edge...

    Good luck!
