Glen Saves My Towa General Razor
I had been looking for this particular Japanese western style Towa General model for some time in this particular set of scales. I had seen the damage to the blade when I purchased the razor but made the purchase. I had never seen this exact kind of damage to a straight and was a bit nervous. After receiving the razor and pondering, shaving with it, and pondering some more I contacted Glen and mailed the razor to him. Today he let me know that he had accomplished the task and sent along a photo of the before and after.
I want to thank Glen and again tell him how much I appreciate his work and dedication to straight razors and honing.

I think it is Celluloid, if I had to guess,
I went back and forth about what caused it, my first thought was Layered /Laminate steel that had separated, then I switched to same thing as you thought about a drop..
After looking really close and then looking at the Macro - Pics and after the repair I was thinking it was a forging error.. The good news was that it came out and Bob's idea of a Oblique /French point was the perfect solution for the grinding, I ended up losing zero nada zip on length at the edge...Last edited by gssixgun; 08-02-2014 at 03:55 PM.

To be honest, I think the repair actually looks better than what it was originally supposed to be. Kudos to Glen on a fantastic save.

Another beautiful piece, Glen. As I have said before, the Japanese blades are my favorites and this one ranks right up there with something I would love to have in my collection.
