Question on pins

Just finished a new set of scales and was wondering if it's necessary to peen the wedge. It's glued up nice and nearly finished, seems to be secure. Just think there are too
many possibility of things to go wrong by continuing.. Should I peen it or would leaving it as is be considered bad form.
