    Default Question re horn scales

I have a few razors with what I believe to be horn scales. They are dark colored in nature, a sort of brown/black. They are fitted to some of the larger blades I have. The problem is, some of them are splintering at the very edges, almost like wood. I am fairly sure they are not wood scales, and am wondering if there is a recommended way to 'clean up' scales that have started to do this. thx - john

Sand them down until the splintered area is removed. You can then buff for a high gloss. Add neatsfoot oil to restore lost flexibility.

Thanks once again Joe! I'll give it a try.
