Ok so here is the completed picture:

apparently making scales is not too bad, pinning is hard!!!! I did my best with a NORMAL hammer, but I'm now in the market for a 4oz ball peen

Not bad at a all, how does feel when shaving that is the main bit,
if it feels good it's a definite success
Job well down and now the learning curve increases again LOLSaved,
to shave another day.

I find especially when beginning, use vintage scales as a pattern for length, width and thickness. There was a reason they made them the way they did.
Pin them up with screws and bolts and try stropping with them. For me stropping is where the rubber meets the road. Then experiment and make adjustments.
