Default Razor restoration - Remove the gilding or ???

Ive got two Wonerful JR Torrey 5/8ths, both have pristine scales, but had a bit of corrosion, Both have some noticeable surface corrosion at the pivit. Name: SAM_1406.jpg

Unfortunately both have some decent guilding on them. a little experimenting shows that even a light touch with Maas, instantly removes the gilding on the shank (funny enough the gilding on the blade is much tougher) I'd like to de-pin these and remove the corrosion, but to do so, I'm figuring i will damage alot of the remaining gilding.

What would you do, or is there any secret to how i should proceed? tips advice, and opinions appreciated.

PS. also thinking on electro plating the engraved razor, sense its pretty affordable to DIY a faux-gold/low carat finish, what do you think about that?

There is a thread or two on redoing the gold. There is also a couple of members that have done a few and are available to do restoration of the gold wash. The kits seem fairly affordable but I have no idea what the learning curve is.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!
