Thread: Brass lined Scales!

Well I found another post about this process after I made mine, and wish I would have had the input. Hopefully I dont have issues with the flex of the scales.

Either way I think they turned out alright, Now to finish cleaning up the blade.

Are you going to coat the inside with anything to keep them from tarnishing? Looking good.

Well it is polished to 12k micromesh and I added 4 coats of Ren wax, think that will be enough?

For a little while. Renaissance Wax is not a permanent sealing. It needs to be re-applied every so often depending usage. Lacquer is the way to go.

I was thinking of something like CA or clear nail polish. I haven't messed with brass liners yet. I was hoping to learn a trick or two perhaps someone in the loop will tell us.

Thanks! I'll be sure to spray them before I put it together

best remove the wax or your lacquer wont stick.

This is what we put in on door knobs in a century home. 5 years and we didn't need to reapply.

Does it only work on brass? I have some stain less steel sheets I was thinking about doing the same thing as the brass scales

I have only used it on brass. For the SS I have used brushed SS and a matte poly finish. Not on razor scales but for door inlays.
