If that's on the toe, maybe shorten it & scale to the new size,,,

I thought about that Hirlau. Removing the damage would make it about a 2 3/8 blade. Would that make it a appropriate length for a shorty ?

Know what you are feeling. Had that happen twice myself and it did not feel good.

Yup, been there, done that. I have a little box holding three or four such. When I get the heart to do it, maybe I'll turn them into shorties, but really, the main reason I keep them is magical thinking. Every now and then, I open the box and look inside, cherishing a small superstitious hope that the crack won't be there. Needless to say, it always is.

2 3/8 cutting edge is perfect shorty length! It will make a nice one.

I had a very nice W&B almost 8/8 that I sent to Mycarver when he started cleaning it up he noticed a crack in the middle of the blade. We were both very sad. He actually seemed more upset than I did. You can tell he has a love for these razors.

Sob! I would venture to say the current crop of razor nuts are finding and creating more cracks today since the beginning of razors!

I'm not too sure about that as I'm sure razors that cracked in the past were scrapped long ago. Scrap drives furring wars and all.
